Hope
Introducing Hope
Last year, five girls assembled on The X Factor. Fizzing, bursting with pop, the group named Hope wowed the British public and showed us that girl power is back with their luscious vocals and cheeky prowess.
Over the past six months, the Hope girls have been busy planning their assault. Having now finished X Factor duties (post the Live Tour where they joined the likes of Leon and Rhydian Jackson, Same Difference), the girls were rediscovered by Live Nation UK MD, John Giddings, who immediately booked them as support for the UK's biggest boyband Westlife on their arena tour across the UK. Unsurprisingly the girls received a rapturous welcome.
Hope, an ensemble of five unique vocals, but one delicious harmony, are Phoebe, Emily, Raquelle, Leah and Charlie. In girl group land, Hope's pop repertoire swings into R&B and beyond, and has that cool, edgy sound that made acts such as All Saints so important to the pop landscape in the 90s.
The fivesome, purveyors of fine pop are sassy, talented and have a rare business like quality that belies their tender years. Surrey born Phoebe, the 'baby' of the group at just seventeen, is quite simply a vocal powerhouse. One of a kind, she has the embodied vocal range of a modern Motown voice and is feisty with it! Next up, Emily - at only 18 years of age has already appeared in the touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webbers hit, Joseph. The Devon born former student brings a dash of elegance to the ensemble.
Over to Mancunian Raquelle, 21, who studied at Britain's oldest theatre arts school, Italia Conti. A natural songwriter, with her cheeky wit she brings an extra slice of spice to the group with her strong will and upbeat nature. Londoner Leah, also 21, has the type of voice that resonates beyond the microphone in more ways than one. Her raspy tones result in goose bumps galore. She also has one of the biggest grins in pop! Finally, Charlie - the oldest in the group at 24, the Sunderland born former Beauty Therapist, has an understated vocal elegance which helps bring together the five-piece harmony. All individual, the girls put a grin on your face the first time you see them, with their cheeky and naughty glints in their eyes!
Currently in the studio writing and recording their own material with support from a crack team of A-List producers, the girls are taking their time behind the scenes to perfect their debut record; on the live front, their next assault is in June, when they'll be taking to the stage at the Isle Of Wight festival. Boyband aristocracy, Boyzone, have also asked Hope to support them during their outdoor concert shows this Summer.
Early tracks coming from the girls HQ including 'This Is It' and 'Hot', two of their initial recordings, have an addictive pop sensibility, with a gritty vibe that encapsulates the sound of Hope - on first listen, you just want to get up and dance. Sonically adventurous and fantastic fun, Hope's journey has only just begun.
